Abe-Igi Bar and Grill Review
Located along Admiralty way, Lekki Phase one in Hedges and Smith Plaza, Abe-Igi is a cozy place shaded by trees. I found out that Abe-Igi means 'under the tree'. I missed it in fact but thanks to google I had seen a picture of the place when I was trying to decide whether to go there or not. There weren't many personal reviews on the internet so it was kind of a gamble going there. They have ample parking for a not too packed day.
When I got inside, a waiter (he had dread-locked hair tied together. I mention this detail because I enjoyed his service but forgot to ask for his name) walked up to me almost immediately.
To my surprise, they had no drink or food menu but the waiter broke it down for me; beer, soft drinks, fruit juices. He recommended an apple cider that was lovely. My friend had a beer. For food they serve; Isi Ewu, Asun, Pepper soup, Nkwobi, Fish barbeque, Suya and Sharwarma.
I was excited to try their Isi Ewu but they didn't have that so we got their Asun instead. I was worried it might be too spicy for my partner and I we are both very sensitive to spicy food. Most people make theirs with alot of pepper but what I got was just the right amount of spicy edging toward being too hot but whats the point of Asun if your mouth is not on fire right?
My Asun was transported from the kitchen in a plate covered with a paper napkin, eeerrrrrr.....
The entire evening was pleasant though I wish they had music playing. I was amused; once it got dark their tree lit up with blue lights and plastic candles were placed on the table.
I enjoyed the breeze and the traditional feel of the place. I would probably go back to try out the Catfish pepper soup I've heard so much about.
In total we spent four thousand nine hundred naira (#4,900) on two bottles of beer, one bottle of apple cider, one bottle of water and two plates of Asun which were one thousand naira (#1,000) a plate. It is a great place for people looking for budget friendly places in Lekki
UPDATE
I went back guys! I was with friends and we wanted a laid back place to hang out for a while. This time around we got their Isi Ewu which wasn't available the last time we were there.

We got two of these for three thousand naira (#3,000). As you can see, one calabash is larger but to my surrise, the calabash isn't hollow like you'd expect, it's flat so all you see is all you get.
Now I liked how tender the meat was but I couldn't help notice the sand as I was chewing which was unpleasant. My friends weren't impressed.
Do you agree with our verdict?
Actually quite affordable.. Nice review now i'm hungry
