The View Bar & Grill - RESTAURANT REVIEW
The View Bar & Grill
A restaurant with a lounge setting located in the heart of Kumasi’s prime residential area in Ahodwo; it is quite impossible to run by that road and miss a view of the place… an outstanding modern architecture for the building blended with a wood cladding all around makes the place stand out so perfectly!! The View is located on top of that building giving its customers a view of the whole surrounding... hence the name THE VIEW.
On your way in, your attention goes directly to an outdoor terrace with simple wooden tables settings for those who crave eating in the open.
Going in you would notice a tasteful collection of beautiful vintage and modern-art chandeliers, the wooden floor adds to the flair and blends in well with the setting in place… for a second you feel like you are in an English loaf somewhere in Central London!
The Bar runs throughout the middle section of the restaurant and the Lounge area, a concrete finished bar with an indirect cozy lighting under and a set of a number of old brass lighting above the bar makes sitting at the bar and skipping dinner seem tempting.
On the left side is the Lounge, a leather sofa set-up separated by a half wall wooden divider offering privacy for people who are aiming a quiet un-interrupted time and on the right is a classy simple restaurant tables settings with Oak wood tables and modern chairs.
The place offers happy vibes and a great view as the entire restaurant walls are made out of glass giving you a great view from wherever you choose to be seated.
Service, human interaction and food is what makes a restaurant stands out, interaction is key in that domain.
You would be greeted by a polite hostess who would direct you to a table of your asking.
The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering food choices, and to assist you in your choice, a digital iPad menu is offered with photos and description of the whole menu to give you a preview of what you are ordering.
I had the Garlic Bread as my starter, which I highly recommend you to try! It was really good and a portion was enough for my companion and I.
We ordered cocktails that were served in a timely and creative manner! You would feel a nice blend between the natural fruits and the alcohol; very refreshing! It was large enough to last us the entire meal.
The main course consisted of a Beef & Mushroom sauce served with a side of mashed potatoes (as per my request, as in general it comes with a rice side dish). All served with an extra tomato sauce, which complimented the dish beautifully; although I would have preferred my main dish warmer.
My companion had their chicken and cashew sauce and a side of Vegetable rice, the portion was enough for two people! The sauce was well prepared with a rich blend of taste.
I am confident in saying that our main courses were exquisite!
For dessert I had the hand-made vanilla ice cream while my companion had their hot fudge sundae and they were delicious!
I especially appreciated the service; all the waiters were neat, professional and extremely polite; the hostess kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed.
My mood was also lifted by the music playing in the background. It was a mix of different sounds especially appealing to my young ears but tasteful enough for an older crowd as well! In addition I spotted two cozy outdoor balconies for those who wished to smoke.
For a three course meal with drinks, between the two of us we spent about 200 Ghana cedis. Talk about misperception! I was led to believe that THE VIEW was expensive and heavy on the pocket, which was not the case.
I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone seeking a classy dinning experience especially for those who are craving excellent beef; their beef sauce is the best I’ve had in Kumasi. I would rate my entire experience 4.5 out of 5.0 since the 5.0 would means perfection on all aspects.
Would I eat at THE VIEW BAR & GRILL 4 times in a week? Surely YES!
