Papaye - RESTAURANT REVIEW

Hey darls!

Today I'm taking you to Papaye in Accra Ghana. I walked past this place a couple of days back and noticed it was full of eating customers. One thing I know is if a place has good food at affordable prices it would never be lacking customers so I decided to drop by and see for myself.

It's a building with two floors. The top floor reserved for guests eating in the restaurant and the ground floor is for those ordering to take away.

The wall facing the busy road is made of glass and so affords you an interesting view of the busy Osu area in Accra if people watching is a thing you like doing like I do.

Their menu is pretty simple. The offer fried rice with fried/grilled/roasted chicken or potato chips with fish or fried/grilled/roasted chicken. They also have beef burgers, coleslaw, ice cream, fruit punches and an assortment of soft drinks as well as water of course.

I was impressed with the service I received and notice others receive as well. A waiter was immediately by my side with a menu and helped me get seated. He explained politely all the questions I had and assured me I would not wait for my food for too long. I didn't!! SCORE!

My food was served in less than 15minuets. Same as the three friends I went with.

I was impressed when I got an entire bottle of ketchup to myself instead of the usual packed ketchup which is never enough for me. My friends that got their fried rice had a nicely packed shito served along with their food. You also have the option to request for different sauces apart from their shito such as garlic or ginger and so on.

I thoroughly enjoyed my food and of course I tried my friends food as well. The fish was filleted and fried in a barter. It was really soft, delicious and far from dry.

My food cost 25 cedis! Which is roughly 2,400 Nigerian naira. My friend's cost 20 cedis each. We spent less than 80cedis and packing the food we couldn't finish came at no extra cost.

I recommend Papaye for anyone looking to eat good food without breaking the bank. They had a couple of cozy booths for couples on dates. There's no provision for smokers and there's no WiFi  (LOL )

The place is popular and known by every taxi driver so getting there shouldn't be much of a hassle. If you've been here please share what you think in the comments section below or via email; sharonabak@gmail.com.
