BOLIVAR BAR & LOUNGE, WHAT'S THE PASSWORD? - RESTAURANT REVIEW

Hey Foodie fam!

Another restaurant review is here!
F mentioned I checkout this new place for the blog and when I visited their Instagram I was "gingered". I loved the easy vibe of the place and the way comfort seemed to be a priority.

Bolivar bar and lounge describes themselves as an exotic fusion waterside lounge with a Caribbean twist. They are located at Wole Olateju Cresent, Lekki, Lagos. You get a good view of the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge (salut to all the people in traffic)  and the water has a lovely calming effect after a long day.

After work, Dee and I got there around 6:30pm. At the gate we were asked for the password of the day...
urrmmm...
lol.
Apparently you're supposed to send them a direct message on Instagram requesting for the password of the day which grants you entry.

Of course we did not have it but I explained that it was our first visit and we would really love to check them out (not to mention that we are paying customers).

It wasn't too full and we were seated easily. A waiter immediately gave us their menu which gives the impression that Bolivar is more of a drinks place than a food place. One page was dedicated to food. Their menu is pretty straight forward; drinks, platters, wraps, BBQ and sides.

For drinks I got Trini to Tha'bone which is rum, cranberry and ginger ale.

Dee got his go-to Whiskey Sour.

He was pretty satisfied with his drink and had no complaints, I did! My drink was so watered down I couldn't even taste the ginger ale which is usually pretty obvious in drinks. We complained to our waiter who came back with a slightly better replacement (I assume more ginger ale was added).

For food, I got their Shrimp wrap with a side of french fries

Dee got their BBQ chicken with french fries.

Our food was served in about 15 minutes and to be honest they could've taken more time if they needed to marinate the chicken some more and actually serve properly fried chips. They serve great portion sizes though!

My wrap was the highlight of the meal. To my surprise I got a generous amount of shrimp and they really worked the flavour of the shrimp into the wrap. It was a bit annoying to eat with all the big chunks of crunchy bell peppers. If I didn't know any better I would've thought they were carrot.

The ambiance won me over. Whoever curated their music playlist understands lounge music and did a great job with it. They also host art exhibitions and serve shisha.
