The Pizza Battle - Pizza Hut vs Dominos
Hello Foodie Fam!
This is another comparison post where I pit two big boys against themselves and see who comes out winning. So grab your cutlery and let's go!
Dominos has been on the scene a little longer (about 6 years) and has won the hearts of many Nigerians especially with their Cold Stone collab.
I visited these two Pizza places on different days.
Val and I (well mostly Val) got their BBQ Chicken Suya + Cheese Pizza which is their most popular flavour. We got the large pan size and extra cheese. It took less than 20 minutes to get served.
Loved how soft and fluffy the crust was and also they were very generous with cheese it was almost as if we got a cheese pizza.
We could only get Pepsi drinks and water so even though Cardi b says Pepsi is the shit, we got water and before I could say "Jack", Val had inhaled the entire pizza.
For emphasis, I'll mention again how impressed I was by the soft fluffy crust because believe it or not I had eaten pizza somewhere in Ghana that had cut the roof of my mouth. Yes it was traumatizing.
Service was great and we had the option of donating money to charity which we thought was very impressive. Also the ambiance was great and very clean.
I had to work one weekend like this (side eyes) and afterwards I decided to catch up with my fashionista friend we'll call Rt at Dominos.
Rt is pretty funny but the first person to make me laugh there was our attendant. I just love cheerful people!
We asked for their most popular flavour and she recommended their Grilled Chicken, Pineapple, Mushrooms & chili pepper pizza. One thing I'll say is; Nigerians sure do love their Chicken.
I was a bit skeptical of having Pineapple on my pizza from a not so great experience at another pizza place so imagine my delight when I took a bit and was in love. I still think back to that first bite till date. The chili pepper took the pizza to a place I didn't know it had to be. I was delicious!
I got the thin crust and found that even though it was soft it wasn't as fluffy as Pizza Huts'. The texture worked quite well though and I had no complains.
We also had the additional option of getting cold stone ice cream but my lactose intolerant self was proud of my self discipline or maybe it was the memory of the last time I got cold stone...
At the end it was pretty easy for me to pick my winner and as much as I''ve "yabbed" them in the past, my winner was Dominos without a single doubt.
Price;
(Pizza Hut) BBQ Chicken Suya + Cheese Pizza - N3,950
(Dominos) Grilled Chicken, Pineapple, Mushrooms & chili pepper pizza - N3,200
The question today is; who is your winner?

Pizza Hut opened with a bang last year December (2018). I was excited because competition usually improves product and if you're familiar with the pizza struggle in Nigeria you'd understand.

Until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter...
ReplyDeleteI still like pizza hut better though. I say this with all seriousness because I've had Dominos pizza like twice this week.
...and that’s the problem. Thank you for your comment Val!
